ABK BULLDOGGES

OLDE ENGLISH BULLDOGGES

ABOUT US

Our Story

My name is Ariel(yes like the little mermaid) and our story started in 2016, both came from the same small town. We each knew of each other from afar but never were introduced to each other. In 2016 I was working for a veterinary clinic as a veterinary technician for both large and small animals. Brady was working alongside his brother and father on their family farm. We ended up working very closely together on bottle calves he had purchased. One of those calves became a pet, he gave me the calf and stole my heart. We still have that adorable little calf which is a huge part of our 60-head cow/calf herd. In 2018 the veterinary clinic that I was employed with started a partnership with a specialty veterinary clinic that specialized in canine breeding. The clinic itself bred English Bulldogs. While working with this clinic I realized how much I enjoyed the entire experience of breeding dogs. I loved the English Bulldog breed since I was a little girl. I remember my dad's neighbors breed and raised English Bulldogs and I would go over and help with the care of the puppies. But now as a Veterinary Technician, I got to see the heartbreak and huge costs of not only breeding English Bulldogs but just being an owner. So I decided to do some research to find a healthier more functional solution.

The Research Journey

I discovered the Olde English Bulldogge, a recreated breed from the old bull-baiting dogs. I instantly fell in love. A bulldog that is healthy, athletic, muscular, and has a great temperament. The next problem I encountered was finding a breeder that had a similar vision and goals for the breed. I wanted a breeder who cared about breeding the standard for the Olde English Bulldogge and breeding for the betterment of the breed. I also wanted dogs that were health and temperament testing. The next task was to find a breeder the had the same goals that I had. I found out that many of the breeders out there did not meet my standards. A lot of the dogs that I found were bred for their color. They reminded me of the English Bulldog, they were fat, lazy, and unhealthy. Luckily, in the end, I only found one breeder that had the same goals and vision for the breed.

A New Journey

With Brady supporting me to follow my dreams, I reached out to Brian Miller. After a phone call, I placed a deposit for my first puppy. After patiently waiting six months, I picked out the perfect puppy. In September of 2018, we brought home Gemma, the beginning of our breeding program. A year later we picked out our next puppy, Maze. We are slowly growing and improving our breeding program. I attend talk seminars/webinars, listen to podcasts, and take online courses to further my education. In the future, we plan on building our indoor/outdoor kennel.

My Goals

Our overall goal is to breed close to the breed standard. We want to keep striving to better the breed and create the perfect breed specimen. Our main priority is ensuring the health and well-being of all our animals from birth until they leave with their forever family - and beyond.
